Skittle Scuttlers snatch title

In a dramatic turnaround on the final night of the league, Skittle Scuttlers (Nicky Guest, Matt Titchard & Scott Ellington) went to the top of the table. They defeated TD (Terry Damm & Des Sands) by 10-2 and also collected 8 points from their game in hand over The Owls (Brian and Mary Grayson). BBC (Pat & Karen Byrne) slipped up badly, losing 1-11 to Hit & Miss (Lesley Reeday and Liz Lake). For the first time in this league neither Byrne reached 500 and both bowled well below their average.

Brothers Grimm (Terry and Steve Emmony & Ian Smith) also picked up 18 points: 10 tonight by beating the Belgian Fags (Richard Springthorpe & Robbie Holt) and 8 on their game in hand. This was enough to take them one point ahead of BBC and into second place.

Hit & Miss move up into fourth place with their win over BBC. (In an earlier week of the league they also defeated the Skittle Scuttlers by 11-1)

High scores were few and far between but the best by some way was Malc Congreve's 592 (649 with handicap) with games of 208 (the best game of the night), 197 and 187. Terry Damm and Scott Ellington were the only others over 500 with 533 each. Terry's 2 matches from earlier weeks which were completed tonight also broke 500: 575 and 546. Lesley Reeday got the highest handicap game with 228.

Split conversions of the night were both by TD. Des Sands got 6-7-10 and Terry Damm got almost the same with 6-7.
The overall league average fell again by 0.3 and finished at 152.1.
